Baby Girl Nursery Reveal

Well, the day is finally here… no, I am not talking about my due date (which was actually this past Sunday, for those who are counting), but nursery reveal day!

I’m not going to lie, it was hard to see my home office go at first, but with everything now in its place, I can’t imagine this space being anything else other than baby girl’s room!

Baby Girl Nursery Glider

If you remember all the way back to my nursery inspiration post a few months ago, “J” and I were looking to create a room that was neutral, simple, and calming. I can confidently say I think we achieved that!

Baby Girl Nursery Peg Board Changing Station

I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to see a mood board come to life… and have it turn out BETTER than originally imagined! What I love most about this room is that it will grow with her; none of the pieces or decor are overly girly or baby-ish, making it easy to transition to a toddler room as she grows!

Now onto some of my favourite details…

Baby Girl Nursery Ikea Dresser

Furniture

I wanted to keep things pretty minimal since the room itself is not very large, so I made sure all the necessities were purchased and placed before investing in niceties. Well, once the crib, dresser & glider were in place there wasn’t room for much more! My favourite piece of furniture is by far the glider by Babyletto! It’s definitely on the pricier end of the spectrum, but it’s so dang comfortable and rocks like a dream – two features that I’m sure I won’t regret when rocking baby to sleep!

Peg Board Changing Station

One of the most commented on items in the room so far has been the custom-made pegboard! My brother-in-law, Tyler, was kind enough to make me one as a baby shower gift! I love that it can be used to not only display toys, booties, and accessories but makes changing diapers a little quicker by housing all diapering necessities – creams, wipes, diapers – within arms reach!

Area Rug

While the room is carpeted, I wanted an area rug to layer under the crib that would be soft and durable enough for baby girl to play on. I searched forever to find the perfect rug – something that was stylish, made with eco-friendly cotton and non-toxic dyes, washable, and in the $300 price range. Sounds like a tall order huh? After weeks of searching, I stumbled upon this beautiful Lorena Canal rug in the most unlikely of places – Well.ca! I think it looks sooooo great in the space, and I’m actually contemplating buying another one for my living room (which will be going through a little “baby-friendly” transformation in the coming weeks)!

How to Decorate a Nursery for a Baby GirlSimple and white decor for a baby girl nursery

Artwork

I didn’t really have a “theme” in mind when designing the room as I didn’t want to tie the space to one thing… like teddy bears or unicorns, so picking the artwork was probably the easiest part of pulling the room together! I purchased the cutest print-on-demand “bunny” photos from The Crown Prints, printed them at Walmart, and framed them in IKEA ribba frames! I think they add such a soft and whimsical touch!

Decorating a Baby Girl Nursery

Decor Items

Again, I didn’t want to clutter the space, so I was very purposeful when selecting all the additional decor items that help dress up the room! The cute “house” shelves are a great backdrop for colourful toys, succulents and books, while the floating shelves are perfect for displaying pictures and additional artwork. The mobile by Pehr Designs was a something that I accidentally came across on the Indigo website and instantly fell in love – it’s beautifully made and the little lambs are just the cutest! The mirror was the last piece of decor I bought and let me tell you… I agonized over this purchase for weeks! Should I do a full-length mirror? Should it be white? Should it have an intricate frame or should it be wood? Should it be square or round? At the end of the day, I spotted this large round mirror at Canadian Tire and scooped it up! So glad I did, it adds a nice contrast to the space!

Other Notable Details

Of course, I went against every single parent’s advice and painted the room white. I heard a lot of “you’ll regret that…” and “good luck keeping that clean…” but hey, I wanted a room that was simple and calm, and nothing says that quite like white. I used Para’s Coconut Sugar (the same paint I used in the main bathroom makeover) and I am thrilled with the results. We topped it all off by adding beautiful Alexandria Crown Moulding from Home Depot Canada (check out this post for a tutorial on how to install crown moulding; it’s easier that one would think!). It makes the room feel “finished” and adds visual interest! And I can’t just pass over the curtains… they were a stellar find at Homesense and really add a luxurious and feminine touch to the room without the colour being too dominating.

I can’t put into words how happy this room makes me. I’ve already spent a good chunk of time just hanging out in there, folding laundry or just rocking in the glider… I can’t wait until the moment we bring baby girl home and introduce her to her new space filled with all the items I’ve curated with love! It’s going to be so fulfilling to see her grow and develop in this space!

    1. Thanks Katie! I really love how everything came together! The colour is “Coconut Sugar” by Para Paint. It has just the right level of warmth without looking yellow!

    1. Hi there Monica, thanks for your kind words about my daughter’s nursery! The curtains were a lucky find at my local Homesense. They are the most beautiful shade of blush pink and have a subtle embossed damask pattern.
