Crazy for Ikat

Ok. I admit it. I am a little late to the ikat game. When this pattern burst onto the scene a few years ago, I wasn’t a fan. I’m a neutrals kind-of girl, and this bold pattern in flashy colours was not on my “must have” list. It wasn’t until I slowly started to incorporate pops of colour into my own home did I start to reconsider the ikat pattern.

Crazy For ikat Patterns

Although the pattern recently spiked in popularity, ikat is more than just a passing trend. The elaborate weaving process creates beautifully blurry lines in simple circles or intricate paisley-like patterns. Ikat is also not new; this near-universal weaving style is common to many world cultures and countries. Ikat could very well be one of the oldest forms of textile decoration. New to me, yet old to the world, this pattern will most certainly be making its way into my home… very soon!
