Safari Niagara: The Sheepdogs

I’ve always loved birthday surprises. In fact, last year I planned a surprise 25th birthday party for “J,” invited 35 of his friends and family, and surprised the hell out of him. It took me 4 months to plan. He hadn’t the slightest clue. This year I arranged something a little more simple, but no less surprising.

Our family trip to the zoo last Friday afternoon was no random day trip. It was a well orchestrated ploy to get “J” to Safari Niagara. Little did he know we were actually going to see one of his favourite bands, The Sheepdogs.

I never would have expected to see a live band at the zoo, and didn’t know what to expect when I bought the tickets. We were pleasantly surprised when we discovered the venue was an outdoor amphitheater. Not only that, once we were planted a stones-throw away from the stage, you never would have guessed we were surrounded by animals.

The show was awesome. The Sheepdogs are definitely a pretty chill, low energy band, and I was totally blown away by their talent. Probably one of the best live bands I have seen in a long time.

At the end of the night I was just happy to see a smile on “J’s” face, and a new Sheepdogs t-shirt on his back.
