5 Tips for a Killer Halloween Candy Board

Here we are, less than 1 week until Halloween. Who would have thought that such a fun and exciting night would look so different this year?

How to Create a Killer Halloween Candy Board

Chances are you are not going to be winning “best costume” at your cousin’s house party, being scared silly in a haunted house, or trick-or-treating the entire neighborhood. It might sound like Halloween is cancelled, but I can assure you it’s not, and you can still make the best of this Saturday night at home with your family.

While it shouldn’t be hard to convince us, parents, not to take the kids trick-or-treating (let’s be honest, do we really like wandering around the neighbourhood for 2 hours on a cold and damp night? Ummm, not really!), persuading the little ones to forgo their favourite night of the year might be more of a challenge.

Halloween Candy Board

Lucky for us, Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, meaning the option to stay up late is on the table… and I can’t think of a better way to spend a night than ordering a pizza, watching a scary movie, and eating lots of candy with my family!

Enter the “Halloween Candy Board!” Jam-packed with your family favourites – from gummies and pretzels to mini chocolate bars and M&Ms – if this doesn’t grab a kid’s attention, I don’t know what will!

While there really is no right or wrong way to go about creating a Halloween candy board, I do have a few helpful tips for you to consider:

5 Tips for a Killer Halloween Candy Board

1. Fill it with your family favourites

We all have our favourites! Whether it’s peanut butter cups or Skittles be sure everyone has at least one of their favourite present on the board.

2. Mix in a few salty items with the sweets

There truly isn’t anything like a good sweet and salty combo! If you find your board is getting heavy on the sweets throw in some pretzels, popcorn or chips. Chocolate covered almonds or peanuts also offer the best of both worlds!

3. Bowls help contain smaller items like M&Ms

If you want to prevent the smaller items like M&Ms and smarties from rolling into the couch cushions put them in a bowl… you’ll thank me later!

4. Add spooky elements like skulls, monster fingers or even fake eyeballs!

Remember, this is a time to be fun and maybe even a little gross! Add Halloween themed elements to your board to jazz it up. Just be careful not to choose anything too small or items that can be mistaken for candy… nobody like to chomp down on a fake spider!

5. There are no rules, go with it and have fun!

Let’s not forget, it has been a rough year for everyone, so throw the rules out the window for one night! Eat lots of junk food, stay up late, laugh together… and above all else, have fun!

  • ET
  • Hotel Transylvania
  • The Addams Family
