Coming Soon // Spun Goods 2014 + Giveaway

Very rarely does an opportunity come along that involves being creative for the greater good. I love being creative, and I love helping others, so when Lindsey approached me about a partnership with the wonderful women at Sistering and Spun Studio (where I would get to design my own line of textiles) there was no way I was going to say no.

Sistering & Spun Studio

Spun Studio, a social enterprise of Sistering, is a textile studio specializing in woven and sewn accessories. It’s amazing to see what these women can create when given the chance; scarves, blankets, purses, pillows and much more.

Bringing women into the studio that have been marginalized from mainstream economic opportunities helps build their self esteem and a sense of belonging – the things many strive for, whatever their situation in life.

Bloggers + Spun Goods

Sadly programs like this cannot run without the much needed help from the local community, government agencies, and fundraisers. In order to boost Spun Studio’s profile and make the public aware of its textile services, six talented lifestyle & design bloggers (myself included) were asked to design a limited quantity line of home goods which the studio would produce.

My product (more practical than stylish) is something that I have searched high and low for, for a very long time. I am not quite ready to reveal exactly what I will be designing, but I can thank the very generous people over at Tonic Living for graciously donating the lovely natural linen for my project.

Closes: Friday May 30th at Noon. One winner (of the two tickets) will be randomly selected, and announced on this post shortly thereafter.

  1. What a great opportunity! I would love to design a line of home goods! I would probably start with lamp bases, followed by tableware, and then upholstered good. So exciting – can't wait to see what you've designed! Thanks for offering the giveaway.

  2. What a very cool opportunity for you ladies! I'm looking forward to the reveal of your designs! There are so many people who create such beautiful objects – I wouldn't even really know where to begin! I think I'd probably opt to design a beautiful tablecloth & napkins…I think I'm turning into my mother because I seem to be collecting more linens these days. Beyond that, I think designing a rug would be pretty darn cool!
