Grilled Ontario Peaches with Organic Rice Ice Cream

I’m going to admit, I’ve had quite the week. I can’t go into detail, but it was just plain crazy & stressful. But you know what? It’s sweet desserts like this one that get me through (yes, I eat my feelings).

I first made this dessert a few weeks ago when fresh Ontario peaches hit the shelves. I bought an entire basket and halfway through the week I had a rude awakening; I discovered just how quickly peaches go bad. This happens every year. It’s not until my entire kitchen is overrun with fruit flies do I put out a household public service announcement for “J” to pick up the pace on the fruit!

If you have never grilled peaches before it’s really as easy as it sounds. I don’t like to brush mine with oil, but if you want to prevent them from sticking to the grill, this might be your only option. The sweet, tangy and juicy peaches go perfectly alongside your favourite vanilla ice cream. A sprinkle of cinnamon sugar + granola adds a delightful crunch.

Thank goodness this week’s debacle is over, my last carton of ice cream was polished off last night, and I don’t think anyone would want to encounter me on a rage filled trip to the grocery store.

What are some of your favourite ways to serve fresh peaches?
