Dinner is done. Presents unwrapped. Now the real fun begins. It’s time to unwind and relax with a Christmas cocktail!
The end of the night is never really the end of the night at my family Christmas. After all is said and done, the board games make their way to the recently cleared table and either a hilarious session of Cards Against Humanity ensues, or a heated game of Monopoly. No matter the game of choice, there are always cocktails to take the the competitive edge off.
While I do love a Spiked Egg Nog or Mudslide, after a heavy meal a fresh and fruity Christmas cocktail always hits the spot. This cocktail Christmas cocktail is just what the doctor ordered. A fresh cranberry simply syrup is spiked with Disaronno and then topped up with orange juice and sparkling water. Toss in a few cranberries and a slice of orange and you’re ready for the games to begin!
Cranberry Christmas Cocktail
Nothing hits the spot after a long day of festivities like this fresh and fruity cocktail. Tart cranberry simple syrup complements the sweet orange juice and warm amaretto, while sparkling water adds a refreshing lift. Fun and festive, just like you!
2 tbsp fresh cranberry simple syrup (see recipe below)
1 oz Disaronno
1/4 cup orange juice, no pulp
1 cup SodaStream sparkling water
Garnish: 2-3 whole cranberries, 1 slice of orange
1. In a tall glass add cranberry simple syrup, Disaronno, and orange juice. Stir until well combined.
2. Top up glass with SodaStream sparkling water. Add ice.
3. Garnish with cranberries and orange slice. Serve.
In a medium sized pot add 1 cup fresh whole cranberries, 1/2 cup white sugar, and 1/2 cup water. Simmer over medium-high heat for 8-12 minutes. Do not boil or burst the cranberries. Pour through a fine-mesh sieve, and set syrup aside to cool before using in mixed drinks. Discard the cranberries.
