The Best of the 2016 One of a Kind Show

You better watch out, you better not cry… the One of a Kind Christmas show is coming to town! Seriously though, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! I love going booth to booth and just soaking in all the love these artists have for their craft. From clothing and baby goods, to ceramics and paintings galore, the One of a Kind Christmas Show is the perfect place to buy a one-of-a-kind piece for the special people in your life.

On Tuesday I was lucky enough to slip away from work and head to the show with a group of colleagues. I kid you not, we spent 6 hours at the show! Boy did my feet hurt! We shopped and shopped, talked and talked, and while I hate to admit this… gobbled up McDonald’s on the way home (hey, we burned a lot of calories walking those aisles!)! It was a lovely day!

The talent in the room honestly amazes me! That’s why it was so hard for me to pull together this top 7 list this year! But alas, here it is: my top finds at the 2016 OOAK Show.

Top 7 Finds from the 2016 One of a Kind Show

1. Alexia Bilyk // Textile Artist & Designer

I couldn’t walk by Alexia’s booth without stopping for a closer look! The bold patterns on her baskets, pillows and tea towels really drew me in! The baskets are simply adorable while being functional as well… a win in my books!

2. Studio 50 // Contemporary Housewares & Furniture

I would have walked away with 20 of these beautiful decanters from Studio 50 if I could! Not only can they be used to chill wine, you can heat the concrete base and use it to keep liquids like mulled tea and gravy hot right at the table! So multi-functional!

3. Pepper B // Fabrics, Pillows and Accessories

Pepper B’s pillow display actually stopped me in my tracks! I mean, how can you pass by these fun and spunky pillows without a second look!?

4. Eikcam // Handmade Ceramic Wares

The planter pods, the porcelain vessels, the hand shaped plates… I instantly fell in love with everything in the Eikcam booth! Every piece is natural, whimsical and functional.

5. Leikey // Handmade Textiles

Just when I though cacti couldn’t get any cuter… enter Leikey. Textile artist, Keiley, creates the cutest little needle felt pieces along with toys and brooches. Super hard to resist!

6. Trois Quarts D’Once // Tonic Maison

Homemade syrups made from high-end concentrate are perfect for the cocktail lover on your Christmas list. Trois Quarts D’Once produces a healthier alternative to the sugar-laden mixers… and they are delicious!

7. Mellifera Bees // Artisanal Honey

Did you know it takes 556 worker bees to gather a pound of honey? Mellifera Bees harvests that honey to create their beautifully flavoured honey products. From cardamom to lavender infused honey, I can think of multiple ways to use this liquid gold!

Honourable Mention

Mika Sato // Floral and Pottery Design

If I could find a way to keep the plants I buy alive I would most definitely start a healthy collection of Mika Sato‘s uber adorable pottery and succulents! So cute!
